AI: not pie in the sky

Exigent’s CEO contributes to the debate on Artificial Intelligence in legal with an article in PLC Magazine

David Holme, CEO of Exigent, looked past the hype and discussed how Artificial Intelligence can really help legal departments right now in an article for the Know How section of PLC Magazine.

AI is the buzzword of the moment, but the reality is we are far from real adoption, and the industry still has a problem with lack of knowledge of what Artificial Intelligence (vs machine learning vs deep learning) actually means.

The focus should be on making better business decisions, based on data, accuracy and speed (which is what automation will bring). It’s not about technology itself: it’s important to use it meaningfully rather than blindly. The key is putting legal at the centre of business, transforming it from cost centre to centre of value, through a combination of tech and human resources.
